Irvine Shares the Wa

The Irvine Shares the Way project is an interactive plan to share roadways with walkers, bikes and cars. This campaign offers workshops, educational materials and activities throughout the city of Irvine. The goal is to raise awareness of the traffic laws and how this can help reduce accidents. There are 63.3 miles of off-street bikeways in Irvine and 301 lane miles of on-street bikeways. Laguna Beach is situated just south of Newport Beach.Laguna Beach is 50 miles south of Los Angeles and 73 miles north of San Diego.The city has approximately 23,000 residents. Diamond Jamboree is bustling area between Alton Parkway and Jamboree Road. The area has many dining options, shopping choices and services. Dining includes many international flavors. There is an escape room business and karaoke bar. Laguna Beach is a wonderful beach side community with a true dedication to the arts. Laguna Beach is one of the oldest cities in Orange County and has a population of approximately 23,000 residents. Tanka Farms

Tanka Farms is an Irvine stand out.  They offer many tours and events. Tours and events are continuing, however, currently you need a reservation to take advantage of these programs.  Tanka Farms offers a drive thru produce stand.  Fresh, local produce is harvested daily from both Tanka Farms and their local partner farms. In addition to fruits and vegetables, there is a selection of honey, chips and salsa, nuts and dried fruit, jelly and jam, and bakery products. The drive thru stand is open daily from 9am to 5pm. Newport Coast is in Newport Beach, just north of Laguna Beach. Newport Coast is known for its stunning views, varied architectural styles and wonderful communities. Irvine Spectrum Center Christmas Tree

The Irvine Spectrum Center will continue the evening lighting of their Christmas Tree through Sunday, January 3rd, 2021. Each evening beginning at 5pm, the 75-foot tree will come to life with a choreographed light show.  The show will play every 30 minutes, until the mall closes. California Proposition #19 Passed

California Proposition #19 passed in November election, with 8,534,173 or 51.1% of the vote. This proposition will allow eligible homeowners to transfer their tax assessments anywhere in the state. Tax assessments can be transferred to more expensive homes with an upward adjustment. Persons 55 and older, with disabilities or victims of natural disaster or hazardous waste contamination can now transfer their tax assessments from one to three. Secondary properties, such as vacation homes or rentals, inherited from parents to children or from grandparents to grandchildren can be reassessed at market value when transferred, with the first one million dollars being exempt from reassessment. On inherited primary properties, the parent or grandparent can transfer the property without the property’s tax assessment resetting to market value. The additional revenue from generated from this proposition will be used by schools and wildlife agencies through the California Fire Response Fund and the County Revenue Protection Fund.

Open Air Nutcracker Performances

The Festival Ballet Theatre is hosting a series of open-air Nutcracker performances. This is will be small portion of the full Nutcracker performed on an outdoor stage adjacent to the Barclay Theater. Each group of guests will be seated in a reserved pod for up to five people. Groups will be socially distanced. There is limited seating for these performances, so make your reservations early. There are three one-hour performances a day for on four days, December 19th, 20th, 22nd and 23rd. Orange County Great Park Art Exhibition

The Orange Great Park is having an art exhibit in the Palm Courts Arts Complex entitled; Home

The exhibit opened Sunday, September 6th and will close on Sunday, November 15th. Based the idea: that home doesn’t have to be a stagnate term but one of fluidity, abstraction and not always concerning a physical structure. Every person has their own meaning of what is home. This exhibition of artwork has a variety of mediums, materials and perspectives. Admission is free. The art exhibit is open Thursday through Sunday. Facebook Live Play at Home

Pretend City is hosting a Facebook Live Play at Home event. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, through next July (2021), Pretend City will host an interactive educational online get together for kids to play, while remaining safe at home. At 10am, join in the free online gathering packed full of activities designed to engage, encourage and empower your child’s education.  There will be activities for imagination, hands on projects, and exploration activities, similar to those offered in the museum, but reworked for doing at home.
